New Theatre Royal

The New Theatre Royal is a Grade II* listed Victorian Theatre in the heart of Portsmouth. A cultural champion within the city, with a mission to help build a sense of place, using creative engagement to assist our communities to flourish, and enrich people’s lives.

We aim to develop a stronger, more resilient theatre, proud of its history, but focused on the future.

Located within one of the most deprived electoral wards in the country, we are a safe space that welcomes and encourages the development of equality; self-expression; sense of community and confidence, with a focus to be accessible to all.

We aim to engage with and offer opportunities to those living in within our locality, and to be inclusive to all from young people, students, families, those visible or hidden disabilities and LGBTQ+ communities.

We present a high-quality eclectic mix of performances from Community shows to professional Dance; Drama; Entertainment, Music, Comedy and Family performances.
